Christian Science
Christian Science is the practice of the laws of God, laws of good, that Christ Jesus demonstrated and expected his followers to “go and do likewise.”
Mary Baker Eddy, a nineteenth-century New England woman in search of better health, found her answer in the healing works of Christ Jesus. She recognized that Jesus's works were not miraculous, but the result of the scientific operation of spiritual laws, applicable in every age.
With the Bible and the Master Christian's example as her guide, she healed others of all kinds of diseases and troubling conditions, taught others how to heal, and established a church “designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.” (Manual of the Mother Church, p.17)
A full explanation of the Science of Christianity can be found in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by Mary Baker Eddy. This book may be purchased at Christian Science Reading Rooms and local bookstores.
